    Greetings,

The DFA would like to acknowledge everyone who participated, volunteered and watched our historical dagger fencing tournament on January 14th 2012. From the ladies and gentleman who so graciously assisted with setting up and running the event to Coach Toro who is the corner stone of our success. The DFA will not forget his determination to promote our new exciting sport for all ages and genders. We would also like to thank the referees and judges who maintained safety and impartiality for all contestants.

Last but not least the DFA is grateful for all the members who fenced in the first Olympic style dagger fencing event in history.

    Kind Regards,

    David Falcon

The first Dagger Fencing Association event will be hosted by River City Duel Til You Drop in Florida located at the  Jacksonville Fairgrounds on January 14, 2012. So far there are over 10 participants and we are expecting some very competitive sword play. Special thanks to Raul Toro and the rest of the JAX fencing club for making this event possible.

    Chicago

The DFA just returned from the greater Chicago area to learn about an exciting fencing sport known as Lancet. This modern rapier style of blade work derives from traditional tactics and like Dagger fencing allows for 360° movement on the piste. Lancet can be found at the Fencing Center of Chicago and Red Star Fencing academy in Chicago. To learn more go to the Red Star website.

LATEST NEWS: You can now order all your dagger fencing equipment at Physical Chess!

The dagger weapon was designed specifically to use in tandem with an épée weapon and follows much of the Olympic style épée rules with a unique exception; the ability move about a square or circular piste with non-tethered scoring equipment.

“The introduction of the Dagger weapon is just the first step toward creating a revolutionary new sport,” says David Falcon, chairman and founder of the Dagger Fencing Association who is a recreational fencer and product developer for Inveton, LLC. “Our vision is to revive the ancient practice of two weapon fencing worldwide and promote this new sport as a future Olympic event.”

The dagger is 66 cm in length from tip to pommel and features a flexible wired blade with a standard saber guard and épée tip. The electric body cord fits into standard épée weapons and scoring equipment. An unwired practice dagger blade is also available for practice and Renaissance re-enactments.  To purchase Dagger Weapons or equipment go to the Physical Chess website and search, "dagger fencing."

“Dagger Fencing is meant to be a fun anaerobic sport” says Falcon. “The goal is to combine intense mental and physical skill with the hallmarks of integrity and sportsmanship.”
